How To Treat Eczema Of Skin
Eczema is a common but difficult to treat skin condition, that can be triggered by many factors such as allergies (dust mites and pollen and tobacco smoke in particular), chemicals, stress and hot, humid temperatures. Eczema can cause red, inflamed patches on the skin which can get very dry and itchy, and in serious cases the skin can crack and become susceptible to infections.
Conventional treatments for eczema include topical steroids that are available in creams and lotions and work by reducing inflammation and irritation, and can help give the skin a chance to heal on its own.
Antihistamines are also used, and these can help the skin to stop overreacting from allergens such as pollen, dust mites and chemicals. In serious cases of eczema where secondary infections have set in treatments can also include antibiotics, which help to combat the infection before the eczema itself is treated.
There are also some natural remedies that can help to alleviate the symptoms of eczema including evening primrose oils, chamomile and zinc supplements.
